English Language Requirement for Tier 4 Visa
All international students requiring a Tier 4 (General) visa to study in the
United Kingdom with The London College UCK will need to show proof of English
language competency in line wth both the UK Border
Agency (UKBA) policy and our internal policies.
In order to be issued a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS), a
student must meet the requirements of one of the following categories:
- Be a national of one of the
following majority English speaking countries as defined by the UKBA
Have previously completed a qualification to a UK
degree or higher (level 6 or above), but not vocational or professional,
which was taught in English in a majority English speaking country
(including where the qualification was taught in the UK);
Currently reside in the UK on a
Tier 4 (Child) visa and want to move over to a Tier 4 (General) visa;
Hold a Secure English
Language Test (SELT) issued by one of the approved UKBA test providers on
the appropriate level of the Common European Framework of Reference for
Languages (CEFR). CEFR B1 level is required for courses at QCF levels 4
and 5 and CEFR B2 level for courses at QCF levels 6 and 7.

Minimum levels must be achieved in the following
test components: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
